HTC PCD tools WITH Sacrificial bars or Metal Bond utton are designed to remove coating over a surface equal to a troweled surface and will not damage the concrete. The sacrificial bars or the metal button act as a stabilizer and depth guide, and reduce the gauging of the floor caused by the aggressive pcd segments.

 

HTC PCD grinding shoes WITHOUT Sacrificial bars or Metal Bond Button are the most aggressive style and will leave a very coarse profile on the concrete underneath.  For thick coating removal.

HTC grinding shoes, with different shapes segments. Round buttons, arrow, rectangular bars, single or double grinding segments for HTC floor grinder.  But what is more important, especially in the initial grinding steps, is the bond or hardness of the tools. 

Bond: super soft, soft, medium, hard, super hard 

Hard concrete requires softer bond to prevent glazing and to allow new diamonds to get easily exposed for maximum grinding.
Soft concrete requires harder bond, so it can last longer (soft bond also works but it will wear out too fast on soft concrete).

Grit: 6#, 10#, 16/20#, 30#-200#, 350/400#

 For example, if you start with 30 grit, the next grit is 50 or 70, then 100 or 120, 200 or 220, 400, 800, etc.
